Chair of Eti-Osa Local Government, Omo’Oba Alimot Adetoro, has given nutritional food packs to expectant mothers in the council.

She said it is a reflection of her commitment to the health and wellbeing of people, especially mothers and their unborn children. She said she recognised that proper nutrition in pregnancy is essential for safe delivery, healthy babies, and stronger communities

The chairman said the gesture was part of efforts to cushion effects of the hardship and bring relief to residents.

“It’s a wonderful feeling we are meeting the needs of our people. We are close to them, and we are doing this to assist and alleviate what you can call near poverty. We want them to feel comfortable and happy because we all live together in this community,” he said.

‘’I announce that 500 nutritional food packs have been approved for distribution in all Primary Healthcare Centres in our coumcil. Of these, 100 packs are distributed today as we kick off this initiative.”

“The remaining packs will be distributed to our healthcare facilities: Ikate, Igbo-Efon, Ikota, Ajiran, Gbara, Ilasan (SA Adeyemi PHC), and Lafiaji Primary Healthcare Centres.”

“This initiative is a deliberate step to support expectant mothers who rely on our Primary Healthcare Centres. It is our belief no mother should be deprived of the basic nutritional support needed for a healthy pregnancy.”

“Let me appreciate our dedicated healthcare workers who continue to serve diligently at the grassroots. Your efforts are the backbone of our healthcare system, and we do not take your sacrifices for granted.”

“To our mothers, I encourage you to make full use of these Primary Healthcare Centres. Attend your antenatal appointments regularly, follow medical advice, and take advantage of programmes like this designed for your benefit.”

“As an administration, we remain committed to strengthening primary healthcare delivery, improving access to essential services, and ensuring that the people enjoy a healthier and more prosperous life.”

“Together, we will continue to build a community where every mother is safe, every child is healthy, and every family thrives.”

Reacting, a beneficiary, said: “I want to appreciate Eti-Osa for what they have done for us.

“They have been taking care of us; they made childbearing so easy. If not because of the economy, I won’t mind giving birth yearly because of this kind of good gesture”
