From Augustine Okezie, Katsina

Governor Dikko Umar Radda on Saturday in Katsina assured residents that his administration would decisively curb banditry before the next Sallah, expressing optimism that citizens would celebrate in peace, safety and happiness.

Radda gave the assurance while briefing journalists shortly after observing the two raka’at Eid-el-Fitr prayer at Batagarawa Mosque, led by Imam Abdullahi Musa. He described Eid-el-Fitr as a significant moment for Muslims worldwide, marking the successful completion of Ramadan and a period for reflection.

The governor noted that the occasion offers an opportunity for the Muslim Ummah to strengthen unity, love and mutual support, while also enabling government to identify with affected communities and address prevailing security challenges.

“We deeply sympathise with families who have lost their loved ones, and we want to assure them that efforts are ongoing to crush banditry in the state and bring an end to these unfortunate incidents,” he said.

“We are hopeful that by the next Salah, Insha Allah, our people will celebrate in peace, safety and happiness.”

He also prayed for divine protection for citizens and for enduring peace, stability and prosperity in the state and the country at large.

Radda urged residents to continue supporting government efforts and remain united in the collective pursuit of peace, development and progress.

He added that the virtues imbibed during Ramadan — kindness, fairness, patience and generosity — must be sustained to promote harmony and social cohesion.

“We must continue to be fair, kind and generous to those in need, and ensure that the values we have learned during Ramadan remain part of our daily lives,” he said.
