Former legislators under the aegis of the National Forum of Former Legislators (NFFL) Ekiti State chapter, have endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji for second term in office.

The endorsement was part of resolution reached at the inauguration of the Ekiti State chapter, held on Friday with former members of the National Assembly, Ekiti House of Assembly and ex-councillors from the 177 wards across the state in attendance.

The inauguration ceremony was  performed by the National Coordinator of the forum, Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe, on behalf of the Convener and Chief of Staff to the President,Femi Gbajabiamila.

In a communiqué signed by the General Coordinator, Dr Ifeoluwa Arowosoge and Congressman Bimbo Daramola, the forum expressed satisfaction with the impressive turnout and the commitment of members to ethos and ideals of good governance, democratic consolidation and sustainable development.

The forum stated that its members had resolved to deploy their wealth of legislative and governance experience to provide advisory support and strategic insights aimed at enhancing effective service delivery at all levels of government.

It also pledged to mobilise grassroots support for Oyebanji’s re-election bid, noting that his administration had demonstrated commitment to the development and progress of Ekiti State.

On national issues, the forum aligned with calls for the constitutional entrenchment of rotational presidency between Northern and Southern Nigeria, stressing that the presidency should remain in the South to complete an implied eight-year tenure.

It consequently endorsed President  Tinubu for a second term, commending his reform-driven leadership and the impact of his policies on economic revitalisation, education and national stability.

Speaking with journalists, the Managing Director of Federal Housing Authority, Oyetunde Ojo, said President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji deserve a second term in office in view of their impressive performance.

Ojo, a former member of the House of Representatives, said that the strategic reforms and intervention programmes introduced by Tinubu had stabilised the economy and engendered socio-economic development across the country.

He expressed optimism that upon the completion of Tinubu’s eight-year tenure, the country would witness remarkable transformation, noting that Nigeria would not remain the same given the foundation being laid through ongoing reforms and policies.
