Governorship aspirant in Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has begun ‘Back-to-School Initiative’ in Ibadan zone, featuring distribution of school uniforms, socks, sandals and other educational materials to vulnerable pupils, to reduce out of school children population.

Beneficiaries included pupils of St. John Basic School, Erunmu; St. Luke’s Demonstration Basic School, Molete; St. Brendan’s School I & II, Kumapayi, Olodo, Ibadan and HLA Special Basic School, Gate, Ibadan.

Ajadi said he would harness grassroots talents, while providing support for vulnerable and underprivileged children.

He said his initiative would support vulnerable pupils with basic educational materials, to reduce out of school population.

According to him, the drive, in partnership with “Catch Them Young Campaign Initiative,” has benefited over 300 pupils in government-owned primary schools.

Chief Coordinator of “Catch Them Young Initiative Campaign”, Mrs. Ayodeni Aluko, said the initiative, which was approved by Oyo State, was aimed at helping young talents for future development, seeking more support and sponsors for wider coverage.

Some of the beneficiaries hailed Ajadi for extending dividends of democracy to the grassroots, saying he had left an indelible mark for better future.

Headteachers of schools visited, Mrs. Victoria Opadotun of St. Luke’s Demonstration School, Molete, and Mrs. Cecilia Akinpelu said the initiative would make the pupils to stay in school.
