The maintenance of State-owned housingestates, entrenching sustainability ethics and practices in the management of infrastructure is a top priority for Lagos State Government to ensureinvestment in real estate is well protected for maximum value.
Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai made this known during a two-day Annual Management Retreat of the Ministry of Housing at the Conference Hotel, Abeokuta. While reiterating the importance of the theme “Enhancing Service Delivery for Sustainable Housing Development and Management,” the commissioner stated that “deepening the capacity of the management staff is a strategy to improve operational effectiveness, reinforce leadership efficiency as well as ensure performance driven engagement.’’
Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Housing, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, encouraged directors and senior management of the ministry to maximise the opportunity provided by the State Government to gain practical insights that would translate into measurable improvements in discharge of responsibilities.

Ogun State Commissioner for Urban andPhysical Planning, Tunji Odunlami, who once served as a Permanent Secretary in Lagos State Ministry of Housing, in his goodwill message, acknowledged Lagos State Government’s strides in the housing sector and noted that Ogun State continues to leverage on the successes recorded in Lagos State. He emphasised the importance of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), exchange of ideas and full interaction between Lagos and Ogun State on housing provision.
A major highlight of the retreat was a session facilitated by Mr. Sam Egube, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor of Lagos State on “Global and National Economic Outlook: Implications for Housing Industry Development and Management.” He underscored the pivotal role of the private sector in driving housing development and stressed the need for a supportive and enabling environment within the built sector to stimulate growth and investment.
