The late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s name reverberated in Nnewi, Anambra State, last weekend, when a young man, Ikebunwa  Lotanna, wept, narrating how the late senator lifted him out of poverty.

It was at Anaedo VIP Hall when he inaugurated ‘Good Governance Initiative Programme’, through which he planned to help the needy too.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) aspirant for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency said he was begging for N1,000 to buy milk for his child before Ubah’s intervention.

The aspirant is contesting the party’s ticket against the incumbent lawmaker representing the area, Peter Uzokwe, who is being attacked by party members and his constituents for allegedly being a failure.

Speaking during the event, Lotanna got emotional, declaring he missed Senator Ubah, who, according to him, “made me a man I have become.”

“I’ve suffered in life and politics. There was a time, about five years ago, when I was pleading to borrow N1,000 from people to buy milk for my child.

“But I was told by someone that my success was near. It was not long my phone rang and it was the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who asked for my account details and  credited me with N150,000, which he told me to use to come to Abuja.

“When I got there, he offered me the job of a special assistant and gave me employment at Federal Polytechnic, Oko. The same God that lifted me up will lift everybody. I miss Senator Ubah,” Lotanna said amid sobs.

He noted he had worked for people like Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, Senator Andy Uba and Senator Ikechukwu Obiora when they were seeking one political office or another.

‘’So, I’m not a small person in politics,” Lotanna added.

The late Senator Ubah represented Anambra South Senatorial District on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) and was gunning for the governorship seat before his untimely death.
