The Imo State Police Command has apprehended more than 15 individuals involved in terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across the state.

Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, disclosed this during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Owerri, outlining the security achievements of the past week.

CP Bosso said the arrests were made in collaboration with sister security agencies and community stakeholders, targeting suspects linked to IPOB/ESN activities, cultism, and other criminal networks. The command also successfully rescued a kidnapped victim and a stolen child, reuniting them with their families.

A key breakthrough involved the arrest of five notorious kidnappers—Chinonso Ugochukwu, Chibuzor Okafor, and Ohaka Chukwuka—connected to IPOB/ESN-related terrorism, kidnapping, and murder in Oguta. Authorities recovered one LAR rifle, three AK-47 rifles, three pump-action guns, and other incriminating materials.

Chinonso Ugochukwu, alleged IPOB/ESN sub-commander, confessed to the group’s involvement in multiple kidnappings and murders, leading to the discovery of several bodies in shallow graves.

Additionally, two suspects—Amucha Nkemdirim Innocent and Michael Okafor—were arrested for terrorism, kidnapping, and murder in the Umuakagu-Nsu community, with two pump-action guns and nine rounds of live ammunition recovered.

CP Bosso commended the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for their bravery and professionalism, urging residents to continue providing credible information to ensure security across Imo State.
