Jaiz Bank Plc has announced the appointment of Omolara Muinat Ismail as its Executive Director in charge of Business Development following confirmation of the appointment by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The bank said the appointment is part of its plan to strengthen its leadership team and support its efforts to expand retail banking and financing for small and medium-sized businesses across the country.

In a statement, the bank said the decision reflects its strategy to deepen its presence in different parts of Nigeria and grow its operations in the non-interest banking segment.

According to the bank, the appointment “reflects our strategy to strengthen leadership capacity in driving retail and SME growth, deepen market penetration and expand our non-interest banking footprint across Nigeria.”

Ismail brings more than 25 years of experience in the banking industry, with expertise in retail, commercial and corporate banking.

Before her appointment, she served as General Manager for Business Development and Head of the Lagos and South Directorate at Jaiz Bank, where she supervised the bank’s expansion in the region and oversaw product development and digital banking initiatives.

The bank said she has played an important role in driving regional growth and improving customer-focused services through new products and technology.

Over the years, Ismail has also held senior management and board-level positions in the banking industry.

Her professional career includes service at Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, where she held key leadership roles and served as a Non-Executive Director as well as Chairman of the Board Credit Committee of the bank’s subsidiary in The Gambia.

The bank said her experience in banking operations, credit management and business development will support its efforts to strengthen its services and expand its reach to more customers.

Ismail is a Chartered Banker and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria as well as the National Institute of Credit Administration.

She holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Ilorin and Bangor University in the United Kingdom (UK).

She has also participated in several executive training programmes at international institutions as part of her professional development in the banking industry.

Jaiz Bank said the appointment is expected to support its growth plans by expanding retail banking services and improving access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The bank added that the new executive director will also help strengthen strategic partnerships and promote greater use of digital banking services as the institution continues to grow its operations.

According to the bank, the move is also part of its broader effort to maintain its position as a financial institution that focuses on ethical banking and customer-focused services.

The Board and Management of Jaiz Bank congratulated Ismail on her appointment and expressed confidence that her experience and leadership would help the bank achieve sustainable growth.

They also said her role will support the bank’s long-term objective of creating value for shareholders while improving financial services for customers across Nigeria.
