A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Kosofe II Constituency, Femi Saheed, has highlighted key achievements of his tenure while appealing for increased voter support ahead of forthcoming elections.

Speaking during an interactive session with residents across Kosofe, Saheed said his four-year administration has prioritised infrastructure development, welfare initiatives, and youth empowerment.

He disclosed that his office facilitated the provision of three mass transit buses dedicated to transporting students within the constituency, noting that the service has operated consistently for nearly four years. He also stated that 13 roads with streetlights have been delivered, alongside major road projects in Ajagunle, Ademurin, and Church Street.

The lawmaker further noted that a 1,200-capacity stadium has been completed within the constituency, as well as a large-scale water scheme project at Isheri North Estate. In addition, he said bridge projects in Agboyi and Patele Estate were facilitated, with one executed by the Federal Government.

On education and social welfare, Saheed said his office supported students through JAMB provisions and scholarship opportunities, while also providing assistance to vulnerable families.

He added that efforts have been made to create employment opportunities for youths through collaboration with relevant Lagos State agencies, including the Ministry of Transport, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Ministry of Local Government, Civil Service Commission, and neighbourhood security outfits.

“We have used the mandate given to us by the people to address their needs, including stopping illegal demolitions and supporting vulnerable families within our society,” Saheed said.

Looking ahead, Saheed appealed for continued support from constituents, noting a steady increase in voter confidence. “The first time, I received 8,016 votes. The second time, it rose to 36,896. This time, we are aiming for nothing less than 100,000 votes,” he said, urging residents to back him during the party primaries and the general election.

Describing his leadership style as people-centered, Saheed said his approach is driven by close engagement with constituents. “I live among my people. I understand their needs, and their requests guide my actions,” he stated.

He also stressed the importance of voter registration, describing it as a critical tool for electing capable leaders. Saheed referenced Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that citizens’ participation through valid voter cards remains essential for sustaining governance and representation at all levels.

The lawmaker concluded by urging residents to participate actively in the electoral process to ensure continuity and effective representation in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Speaking with The Nation, Bosede Ajade, an event planner, said the lawmaker has delivered significant development projects within Kosofe. She pointed to interventions in Ajegunle, where a school was renovated, a modern sports field constructed, and free school buses provided for students.

Ajade also highlighted road construction projects facilitated by the lawmaker in several communities, including Agility, Ijero, Irepodun, Akinboro, White House, and Oluwaseun, noting that these efforts have improved mobility and living conditions for residents.

In a similar vein, a cleric, Evangelist Philip Aderana of the Oluwalogbon community, expressed support for Saheed’s re-election, citing his responsiveness during times of crisis.

“Some of us landlords were displaced when land grabbers invaded our community. We reached out to him, and he came to our rescue when we needed him most. Now, we are at peace,” Aderana said.

He added that Saheed’s projects have helped ease long-standing challenges in the area, including the construction of a stadium for youths and the resolution of persistent drainage issues that previously made life difficult for residents.

The residents noted that these interventions have collectively improved livelihoods across Kosofe, reinforcing calls for continued support for the lawmaker in future elections.
