The Lagos State Ministry of Housing on Tuesday paid N23.2 million as refund to verified subscribers of Egan-Igando Mixed Housing scheme.

Following the transfer of the housing scheme to the Ministry of Housing and the challenge of unexpected delay in the timeline of the project delivery, some of the subscribers who had previously made part payments chose to withdraw and opted for refund.

During the meeting, verified subscribers were presented with refund cheques, reaffirming the State Government’s commitment to financial integrity and due process.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Abdulhafis Gbolahan Toriola, emphasised that subscribers who completed their payments after the transfer have been duly allocated their respective housing units, underscoring the government’s resolve to ensure that no citizen is unfairly disadvantaged.

To guarantee transparency and credibility in the refund process, a comprehensive verification exercise was conducted.

The Director of Account, Mrs. Yesirat Adewale, confirmed the authenticity and validity of all relevant documentation before the issuance of cheques, ensuring that every refund was processed in strict compliance with established financial regulations.
