Region 8 of Lions Club International District 404B2 Nigeria has celebrated this year’s Environment Week of Service by donating trees and waste bins to Government Technical College Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.

Themed: ‘Plant a tree for a healthy Environment’, the event featured tree planting and donation of two giant waste bins to the school.

Region 8 Chairperson, Adedeji Olukokun, speaking from his base in the United States, said the exercise was to key into the global observance of Earth Day, adding that Lions Club International  has placed special emphasis on three key focus areas, with dedicated weeks set aside to amplify awareness, sensitise communities, and carry out impactful activities.

“The Environment Week of Service is one of these, and today’s initiative is being replicated in over 200 countries around the world,” he added, while calling on the public and all relevant stakeholders to support collective efforts toward building a healthier and greener environment for all.

District Governor District 404B2 Nigeria, Oluwakemi Eribake said the gesture was to remind all including the students and staff of the college to always be environment friendly.

Region 8 Vice Chairman, Chike Akaeze thanked the college management, especially the Principal, Mrs. Betiku Esther Olubunmi and District Governor Lion Eribake, who doubled as the host, for welcoming the club.

Mrs. Betiku thanked the club for always partnering with the college, even pledged that the management will always be receptive to their gesture.
