• N1.5b YEAP-SAfER disbursement kicks-off in Oyo

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has approved N10,000 transportation allowance as palliatives for the state workforce, to cushion the effect of increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise known as petrol.

The approved allowance will take effect from next month.

The Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Oyo State chapter, Kayode Martins, said this in a statement yesterday.

He said the approval followed a request put before the governor by the Labour leaders on the issue of transportation allowance.

At press time, petrol sold for between N1,320 and N1,330 per litre across the state.

Governor Makinde has said youth empowerment and agribusiness remained central to his administration’s vision to expand the economy of the state.

He said this yesterday at Oyo State Agribusiness Transformation Centre, Fasola, during a ceremony to kick-start the disbursement of N1.5 billion to 1,000 beneficiaries under the Youth Entrepreneurs in Agriculture Programme/the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (YEAP-SAfER) initiative.

The YEAP-SAfER initiative, which will see 1,000 youths who had participated in state-sponsored trainings at the CSS Integrated Farms, Gora, Nasarawa State get N1.5 million each, was in partnership with the First City Monument Bank (FCMB)/Mastercard Foundation.
