As political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum in Ogun State, Gbenga Akinwande—an early supporter of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi—has expressed satisfaction over what he described as the emergence of a long-awaited political consensus in Ogun West.

Akinwande, who had consistently canvassed support for Adeola since the early stages of the political realignment, described the development as a turning point that has finally positioned Ogun West at the centre of state leadership.

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun, Aremo Segun Osoba, Senator Gbenga Daniel, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and other political leaders for what he described as an unprecedented show of unity in backing Adeola’s emergence as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement, Akinwande praised Senator Adeola’s track record, pointing to interventions in community electrification, distribution of transformers, installation of solar-powered streetlights, provision of boreholes, scholarships, road rehabilitation, and various empowerment programmes across constituencies.

He said leadership must be anchored on competence, courage, and empathy, adding that Adeola has consistently demonstrated those qualities through sustained public service.

According to him, the senator has built political and developmental bridges across Ogun State’s three senatorial districts, widening his acceptance beyond his base in Ogun West. He noted that the growing support for Adeola is driven more by performance than sentiment.

Akinwande concluded that the emerging consensus reflects a shared desire among stakeholders for continuity, fairness, and purposeful leadership in the state.
