The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, on Tuesday inaugurated the Ibadan Community Guard as part of efforts to bolster grassroots security across the ancient city.
The newly formed guards are expected to work in collaboration with relevant security agencies to enhance policing across the eleven local government areas in Ibadanland.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, in Ibadan North Local Government Area, with personnel to be deployed across all local councils in the city.
The initiative was driven by prevailing security challenges in parts of Ibadanland, necessitating a coordinated community-based response.

The event also featured the launch of the Ibadan Economic Investment and Business Development Desk, as well as the Ibadan Food Security Initiative, also known as Gaari Ibadan.
Dignitaries at the event included former Minister of Industry and Iyalaje Iyalode of Ibadanland, Chief Mrs Onikepo Akande; Chief Dotun Sanusi; and the President-General of the Central Council of Ibadanland, Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole, among others.
