No fewer than 1,003 students in Ede North, South/Egbedero/Ejigbo Federal Constituency have received free examination forms for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in a bid to expand access to higher education.
The initiative was facilitated by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Ayodele Asalu, during an event in Ejigbo, where he marked a decade of sponsoring students at the grassroots.
Asalu said the intervention was designed to ensure that financial hardship does not prevent eligible candidates from sitting key qualifying examinations.

He stated that since the programme began in 2016, more than 7,000 students have benefited. Of the 1,003 beneficiaries this year, 453 were sponsored for the West African Examinations Council examinations, while 550 received forms for the UTME.

“Beyond education, my interventions have also included various critical community development programmes in Ejigbo Local Government and Ede Federal Constituency. As of today, I have installed more than 5,000 solar street light units across the Federal Constituency. I have also provided critical farm input to more than 5,000 farmers within the Federal Constituency.”
He added that he is dedicated to human capacity development in his Federal Constituency through direct support for small business owners and ordinary citizens, complementing the government's efforts.
Asalu urged the beneficiaries to justify the gesture through hard work and academic excellence.
He commended President Bola Tinubu’s initiative of the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), adding that “As we give free forms to students here, the Federal Government, through NELFUND, is helping to complete the cycle so that the dreams of most of these indigent students do not end in futility.”
The APC chieftain challenged political office holders across the State to get more committed to the development of our communities.
