Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District, Senator Diket Plang, has presented his nomination form to his constituency.
Plang, who made the presentation during a visit to stakeholders in Pankshin yesterday, said the visit was aimed at informing his people first about his intention to seek re-election and sought their support.
Speaking at the palace of the Ngolong Ngas, the senator said: “The people of Pankshin deserved to know every step I am taking politically because you are the ones who gave me the mandate to serve in the Senate.
“My people need to know where I am and why I want to return to the Senate. I came to seek their prayers and support because they gave me this opportunity.
“My second return to the Senate will be of great advantage to my constituency. With the experience I now have, I will be more productive and more effective.’’
The lawmaker listed some of the bills he had sponsored: a bill for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Kanke, which is awaiting presidential assent; a bill for the establishment of a National Eye Centre in Pushit, Mangu, aimed at improving specialist eye care and benefiting students of the school for the blind in the area.
Plang planned to sponsor bills for an Irrigation and Water Management Institute in Nankat, an Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Centre, and a Federal College of Vocational and Technical Studies to create opportunities for youths and farmers as well as the establishment of Nigeria’s first University of Mining and Geosciences, to maximise mineral resources through education and research.
He recalled moving a motion that included the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Road in Federal Government’s projects.

The Ngolong Ngas, Nde Jika Golit, prayed for the senator. “We pray that God will continue to guide you. Leadership is from God, and all aspirants must pursue peace and unity,” the monarch said.
Chairman, Pankshin Local Government Area, Felix Gonung, described Plang as a humble leader who respects his people and understands governance, having risen through various political offices.
He pledged his support, describing the senator as a father who has continued to protect their interests.
All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart Chief Maichibi Vwarji also declared support for the senator, praising him for returning home to present his forms to the people.
“I have never seen a campaign like this before. Many politicians do not even come home to show the people they want to represent that they have obtained forms,” he said.
He urged residents to reject politics of violence and ensure a peaceful political atmosphere ahead of next year’s elections.
The visit attracted party executives, councillors, youth leaders, women groups, and supporters who welcomed the senator and pledged continued support for his re-election bid.
