The South-West Youth Movement, a coalition of political support groups, has hailed the endorsement of Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, describing the decision as strategic and well-deserved.

In a statement issued by its Coordinator, Segun Tinubu, the group said Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, represents a new wave of purposeful leadership anchored on grassroots connection and progressive ideals.

Tinubu noted that Adeola’s track record of service, accessibility, and commitment to the people distinguishes him as “a round peg in a round hole,” adding that he is well-suited for the responsibility ahead.

The group also commended former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, for what it described as his impactful tenure and dedication to good governance.

It said Ambode’s legacy of infrastructural development, economic reforms, and people-oriented policies continues to resonate with the masses, making a strong case for his return to leadership.

Describing both leaders as exemplary figures in Nigeria’s political landscape, the movement said they share values of integrity, diligence, and visionary leadership.

“Leaders like Yayi and Ambode embody the true essence of service. They are tested, trusted, and proven to deliver on their mandates,” the statement read.

The group urged youths across the South-West to remain united and actively engaged in the democratic process, calling on them to support leaders who have demonstrated capacity and sincerity of purpose.

It reaffirmed support for Adeola’s governorship aspiration and advocated Ambode’s political resurgence, expressing confidence that their leadership would drive development, unity, and prosperity.

The movement also urged stakeholders to prioritise competence over sentiment, stressing that the future of the nation rests on capable and visionary leadership.
