Rapper Zlatan Ibile has revealed that his parents were skeptical of his sudden wealth after he gifted them a luxurious house in Lagos' upscale Lekki neighborhood in 2019.

In an interview on YACN podcast, the Zanku crooner said his parents questioned the source of his wealth, doubting that his music earnings alone could afford such an expensive property.

According to Zlatan, his parents requested time to pray and investigate the legitimacy of the gift, asking if he was involved in illicit activities.

“When I blew up in 2019, I bought my first house in Lekki and decided to gift it to my parents. I called them on the phone and asked them to come and they were like, ‘A house? That’s not possible. Are you doing something else apart from music? How did you buy a house worth millions in the space of one year?’,” he recalled.

He stated that he was hurt by their suspicion after prioritising them.

To alleviate their concerns, Zlatan said he presented evidence of his music earnings, including his bank statement.
