From Onimisi Alao, Yola

Some youths with huge presence in the Yola South Local Government Area of the Central Adamawa Senatorial Zone have made calls for a governor from the zone as the nation gets closer to the 2027 general elections.

No governor has emerged from the central zone since the creation of Adamawa State in 1991.

The youths now urging a change, rising as Tijani Galadima Forum, made their calls during a large-scale humanitarian outreach in which they donated food items and cash to residents across diverse religious and ethnic groups.

‎The youths, making their case for an Adamawa Central governor in separate remarks, endorsed their principal, Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Galadima, for governor come 2027, saying their decision to publicly endorse Galadima of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stems from his proven integrity and capacity to lead.

They emphasised the need for Adamawa Central to produce the next governor, arguing that equity and inclusiveness in leadership rotation are essential for sustained peace and development.

Speaking at the event, a prominent supporter of the power shift movement, Dahiru Adamu, said the push for a candidate from Yola South is rooted in a broader desire to ensure that Adamawa Central also benefits from the state’s leadership arrangement.

‎Similarly, Organizing Secretary of the Tijani Galadima Youth Forum, Aliyu Haidar, recounted how the movement began with just a few individuals but has since expanded into a statewide campaign vehicle.

‎A renowned APC stalwart and supporter of President Bola Tinubu, Dahiru Hammandikko, said he is passionately for a power shift to Central Adamawa, and pledged to continue the clarion call on Tijani Galadima, currently the chief executive of Petroleum Tax Development Fund (PTDF), to contest for the governorship position.
