Participants in the 2026 International Class Welding and Fabrication Training Programme have applauded the Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, for facilitating their participation in the skills acquisition initiative.

The one-month programme, organised by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board in collaboration with the senator, was held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, and focused on providing practical, international-standard training in welding and fabrication.

Speaking after the completion of the training, the welders’ team leader, Ewomazino Odugala, described the programme as a life-changing opportunity for participants drawn from Delta South.

In a statement issued on behalf of the trainees, Odugala said the training significantly strengthened their technical knowledge and professional competence in welding and fabrication, positioning them for better opportunities in the industry.

He also commended the organisers for the smooth conduct of the programme and appreciated the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board and its consultants for ensuring the success of the initiative.

Odugala particularly praised Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas for facilitating the training opportunity, describing the gesture as a demonstration of commitment to human capital development in Delta South.

According to him, the programme exposed participants to international welding and fabrication standards, strengthening their employability and entrepreneurial prospects.

“Our workaholic senator, the training has been invaluable to our career development. Your efforts helped us gain deeper knowledge of international welding and fabrication,” he said.

Odugala added that the initiative reflected the senator’s dedication to empowering youths through skills development and professional growth.

Also speaking, the Acting Secretary of the Welders Unit, Oyibu Oreva, who endorsed the appreciation message on behalf of the trainees, reaffirmed the group’s gratitude to the senator for the opportunity.

He said the participants were eager to deploy the skills acquired to improve their livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.

The trainees noted that the programme had also strengthened teamwork among participants while preparing them for opportunities in the oil and gas and fabrication sectors.
